Persons accepting the promotion from worker to supervisor often do not realize the extent of the new duties they are being assigned. All too often they assume that they will be doing basically the same work as before except that they will now be ‘‘in charge’’. In reality a major change in responsibility is occurring and an intensive effort to acquire new skills will be required. These skills are often in areas in which people never dreamed they would be involved and may take more effort to learn than the skills required of jobs they left.

This course targets

• who are in supervisory positions.
• who aspire to be supervisors.

This course seeks to empower participants with the following skills:

• leadership
• communication
• team building
• motivating employees
• conflict resolution, etc

Method of delivery: This five days short course will be delivered in the form of lectures and group discussions. Educational videos will also be used. Participants will be expected to fully engage in class exercises and case studies.

Course Topics

Effective Communication, Role of a supervisor, Planning and decision making, Organizational and Change Management, Interpersonal Skills, Managerial skills for supervisors, Leadership in Supervision, Time Management, Delegation, Conflict Management, Coaching and mentoring, Staff motivation, Gender Issues in the work place and Effective Team Building.

FRANCISTOWN CAMPUS
